~ We explored more ways to create the “Setting” of a story by building a setting and drawing a setting.
~ We worked on finishing up our shape booklets. Ask what shapes we have been learning, draw their favourite shapes, and name how many sides/corners their shapes have. Pentagon, Hexagon and Octagon are tricky for some students. ~ We played in the forest with our big buddy class. ~ Visted the studio. ~ Had “Open Play” between the 4 Kindergarten and Kindergarten/Grade 1 classrooms. Ask your child who’s classroom he/she went to. * Geb was the helper * During Outside collaboration time many students were working together learning long rope skipping * Puppet planning - we are going to build them next week - ask what characters your child has chosen to do and if they have their story thought out? * Gym - big equipment - hockey popular today * Ask what their goals are during quiet reading time and how they are coming with their self assessments * Alex was the helper

* Marlo helper Tuesday * Popsicle stick questions added - what is a vowel?, Count by 10's to 100? *Literacy groups Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays after recess - Kindergarteners are working on mastering all of their letters and sounds. Grade 1's are working on complex vowel sounds, consonant blends, and sight words. * Friends of 10 (we should have this memorized by now) * Library We are working on learning some outside games and activities with all the Kindergarteners and K/1 classrooms. This means we will be outside twice a day for 45 minutes. Please ensure your child is wearing the right gear for being outside (rain pants or snow pants, mitts, hat, coat). Thursday:

* Made some New Year learning goals * Toy share * New Listening Center books added * Snowy tree art * Exploration with toys from home. - everyone did very well sharing Hot lunch orders went home Kindergarteners starting home reading - option to change their "just right" book everyday Everyone is invited to bring a special item from home tomorrow (Wednesday the 10th). Please talk with your child about where they got it or who gave them the special item and a specific reason why it was picked to bring. They will be sharing all about their items in small groups and will be allowed to play with the items during the afternoon.
Today * we went to library and read The Most Magnificent Thing - ask why Mrs K And Mrs Wagner liked the book so much (She doesn't give up). * Opened the experiment area (moon sand) * New Years letter word puzzle * Mrs Toews taught for the afternoon * Ellie shared her family story and Geb took it home Please ensure your child is prepared for being outside in the wet weather (snow or rain pants) We go outside twice a day in all weather. |
