Some things we have been up to over the last week and a bit....
* Cleaning up and organizing all the amazing work we have done all year * We read a book and have had some serious talks about our bodies. We learned about safe and unsafe touches, safe and unsafe secrets, proper names for private parts of our bodies, and who is allowed to touch them. * Learned how to play Capture The Flag in the Forest (this was a hit) * Finished our Octopus. * Spend some time learning about First NAtions and what the word aboriginal and reconciliation means ( had a wonderful Aboriginal Day assembly) * Thanks for all the support for the Nexan Beach field trip.

The website has been acting up recently along with a busy June. Sorry for the lack of posts.
Some things we have been working on in class.... * exploring Canadian coins, names and value - please support this at home by allowing your child to buy small purchases independently and talking about the math involved * Measurement - estimating size and actual measurement using centimeters and meter sticks * Life size drawing with Buddies - come look at them in hallway * Butterfly life cycle - we have 1 butterfly that has already emerged * Octopus - working on a collaborative paper mache Octopus model * Lots of sight word practice * The class has also risen to the challenge the last couple weeks by welcoming pre-schools and our future K's to the classroom during exploration. Very proud of everyone for welcoming everyone and making them feel comfortable. |
